I did it! Friday night we had a gathering for those of us who have been learning to spin fire to light up for the first time. It was amazing. Here are some photos of me spinning fire.
I got a tattoo to honor this time of change in my life. I will post a picture of it when it has healed. I had a wonderful night Friday night. Made some new friends that I hope will continue to be a big part of my life. I am happier than I've been in a long time.
that is SO freakin' cool! i almost "graduated" to fire poi balls in my hawaiian dance classes back when i was 10/11 years old! i loved them, but you had to be part of the 12/13 and up group.
you are so amazing...
can't wait for the tat pic. :-)
now you need to change to name of your blog to incorporate the word "fire"!

Thanks! It is so much fun and the sound of the fire spinning is amazing! I can't wait to do it again. There are a lot of people who do this - and it's not really all that hard to do - just takes some guts!
Winds of Fire?

Yowza! Cool may not be quite the right word to describe an activity that's so pyromaniacal in nature ;-), but those pictures sure *are* cool. I still get the distinct feeling that a movie is the only thing that would really do justice to this kind of thing.
Good to hear that your spirits are continuing on their up-swing.

I don't get it. What's the attraction exactly? Is rum involved in some way? Cuz I really don't see the point of it all....

there is no point besides challenge and doing something totally new and unexpected - pushing the limits of what I imagined I would do or never do...
Gudy - a movie would help, but there is no way to capture the feeling of standing in the middle of these flaming balls, swooshing around your head. It's an adrenalin rush!

tattoos, fire spinning ... when are you coming to burning man? ;)

leblanc - I wish I could! If I still lived in CA there would be a better chance of me making it. But I'll jave to settle for local mini-burns for now!

no offense taken - and I love that video you linked to. I can only dream of ever getting that skilled.
I tried to comment on your blog and it said I had to be registered, but I couldn't find a way to do that. Is there a glitch in your comment application?

I'm spinning again this weekend. Maybe I can get someone to photograph it for me. It's on my shoulder blade, so kinda hard for me to get it!
